696 people dead. Silence from politicians. Remember the dead fight for the living.

Yesterday 626 people died from Covid 19 but you wouldn’t know about this if you’re not on Twitter. Channel four news did mention it but it wasn’t their top story.

There’s been zero publicity surrounding this and zero communication from politicians about this except for Nicola Sturgeon. At least she cares.

I’m not saying that left wing politicians don’t care, I’m sure that they do but why have they remained silent on this? Don’t the families and friends of those that died deserve some support? They must feel extremely neglected at the moment and its shameful that they’re feeling like this.

Don’t their deaths mean anything? I’m certain that deaths from Covid 19 are being normalised in society. There’s also a whole lot of people that still believe that its all a conspiracy. How callous is this? I’m sorry but it disgusts me.

Every person that died yesterday was someone’s child, sister, brother, parent, aunt, uncle, carer, grandparent and friend. Every one of them were loved by someone. They’ll be missed but sadly do officials care enough to mention this?

I’m furious, they deserve much more than this. They deserve to be remembered.

All of this could have been prevented but it wasn’t. We have a prime minister that is failing the public each and every day. He doesn’t care who dies, nor do his friends either.

You see, I’ve said before that we are all surplus to requirements. If they cant profit from us then they’ll neglect us as they please.

Johnson should have been dealt with the pandemic properly in the beginning. Common sense dictates this but Johnson couldn’t care less. He disappeared for a while, and not one of his Tory MPs questioned this.

Lets talk about the latest news about the new tier system.

It’s complicated, unclear and to be honest lots of people wont even realise that the government have changed the rules again.

It’s ridiculous, people are ignoring the restrictions because they know that they can do. Therefore people are continuing to spread it wherever they go.

The government tells the public that we are in phase 1, 2 or 3 lockdown but they continue to keep the schools open. Thus proving that they don’t give a stuff about our children, teaching staff, school staff and vulnerable family members.

Surely the government must realise that closing schools, especially secondary schools is the right thing to do. Despite the scientific evidence, complaints from the teaching unions and parents they’re still keeping the schools open.

The government will never admit that they’re wrong and they don’t care how many people die as a result of their negligence.

The government is also ignoring the mental strain thats being put on teaching and support staff every day. Not only are they scared of becoming ill themselves, but they’re also worrying about their pupils and their families.

Can you imagine how heartbreaking it would be to learn that you’ve infected a loved one and they become ill or worse. They shouldn’t be put under this stress.

What we need to happen is a full national lockdown. Not a half hearted one because these so called lockdowns aren’t working. The very evidence that 696 people died from Covid 19 yesterday proves this.

We need a full national lockdown thats the same in every town, city and in rural places.

We need all shops except the essential ones to shut, so many shops are still open that say they’re essential but in reality they aren’t. You only have to head over to YouTube and see the Home Bargains and B&M shopping hauls that prove this.

We need each and every person to be properly compensated whilst they can’t work.

We need bailiff visits and evictions to be stopped again

More importantly we need all schools and educational establishments to close. There’s certainly not enough social distancing and the so called ‘Bubble” system is a joke. People are dying remember that.

Whilst it’s definitely not our children’s fault that they’re spreading it, it is the government’s fault for putting them in this position.

The loosening of the restrictions at Christmas time is ridiculous. So many people will become ill or worse as a result of the governments negligence. I suppose they’ve done this because they want to appear popular but they wont be when the death toll is high.

I want all politicians to at least acknowledge the people that have died and I want The Labour Party to challenge the Tories about their shocking management of the pandemic. Before you say it I realise that most Tory MPs won’t but I can ask anyway.

Unemployment is set to hit 2.6 million by mid 2021 and still the government wants to take the extra £20 a week away. It might not seem like a lot to some people but its a lifeline for so many.

So many people have been pushed into poverty through no fault of their own yet their being treated terribly by the government. Don’t even get me started on the DWP and their required job searches whilst we are in the middle of a pandemic.

It shouldn’t be me saying this though, its our politicians job to do this.

Here’s hoping that they will soon.

As for me, I’m still battling this latest infection although I’m not as breathless as I was. The stress of Christmas is already affecting me. I cant afford to buy my daughter anything for Christmas, I only just managed her birthday.

Thousands of people will be feeling the same. If I could cancel Christmas I would.

Please read, share, tweet and email my blog. We need to get the truth out there.

Thank you to everyone that supports my campaign and blog. It really does mean the world to me. Thank you so much.

Poverty is unrelieved violence that only serves the powerful.

I believe that our very being is political. Before and when we are born we are thrust into the world of politics without our knowledge.

Our future is dependent upon the opportunities that are given to you from this moment onwards. We are political pawns and are so from the cradle to the grave.

We are now living in the middle of a pandemic whilst at the same time more and more people are being thrust into destitution, homelessness and much worse. Little or no support is being given to those that need it and sadly I don’t see it improving any time soon.

You’d think that any responsible government would want to help the very people that are suffering but they don’t. You see they view us as a commodity, a bargaining chip that they can cash in to make money from whenever they want to.

This Tory government has no respect for our life’s, our feelings, our suffering. The only respect they have is for the gods of money and capitalism. There’s always a profit to be made from another persons suffering and poverty.

This is exactly why the DWP have been able to treat people appallingly for years. They constantly gaslight vulnerable people and use the threat of their payments being stopped as leverage to blackmail claimants into doing anything that they say to survive.

I’ve been writing about DWP injustices for years now, and every time that I do it angers me. They force claimants to ‘volunteer aka workfare’ for nothing because it ‘might’ result in employment. It rarely does though because the companies involved would rather have free workers than paid.

Then we also have the never ending mandated work searches, looking for jobs that don’t exist. It’s mind numbing and designed to make us comply.

We have disabled people actively persecuted and harassed for being disabled. Constant ‘medical’ assessments to prove that they’re still ill or disabled. This circle of cruelty never ends.

Can you imagine how cruel and humiliating it is to be constantly told by DWP workers that aren’t medically trained that you aren’t ill, you aren’t disabled despite consultants and doctors diagnosing your conditions?

Recently I leant from Benefits And Work that there have been some terrible breaches of confidence, disgusting questioning whilst having to undergoing PIP telephone assessments.

These are some of the complaints;

Trainees listening into the call and sniggering, being asked to make noises like they make when in pain, being asked ‘How often do you change your underwear”. Meanwhile some assessors have been relentless, making the claimant cry and refusing to acknowledge their distress.

This would never happen to anyone thats financially secure and without money worries would it. It just wouldn’t because they’d be challenged straight away. Meanwhile poor people have to accept that they’re going to be subjected to this treatment as a daily part of their life.

I read a comment on Twitter that asked ‘What’s the one thing that would eliminate poverty’. There were many suggestions such as having money, yes that would help. Having a home.. Yes that would help if you’ve got the money to be able to keep a home going. One person hit the nail on the head and suggested education.

Whilst money is a must have and an immediate answer to many of our problems, the answer does lie with education. The more that a person is educated, the more likely a person is to be able to question things, to have a better job, a nice place to live.

The government doesn’t like this idea though. They don’t want working class children to have a good education, this would create adults that wouldn’t put up with their bullshit.

Whilst the pandemic continues its very much a question of us and them. Whilst we are struggling to survive because of lost employment, the lack of sufficient social security, the much better off are actually being being able to ‘enjoy’ the lockdowns to some extent. They can start new hobbies, whilst we are left to spend our time worrying about how we are going to feed ourselves and their children if they have them.

Meanwhile the government handles the pandemic in the worst way possible and offers extremely unclear guidelines to the public. How are people meant to abide by the rules when they’re not clear?

Then we have the question of money.

The government is still refusing to extend the extra £20 a week pandemic payments for universal credit claimants beyond April,. They’re also still refusing to help disabled people in the same way and are often heard saying ‘well there isn’t enough money to do that”

I and others question this especially when the government announced yesterday that they’re wanting to spend £24.1 billion over the next four years on defence. There’s always a magic money tree available for this isn’t there.

Unbelievably the opposition appear to be in agreement with this money being spent. What about the people that are ill or dying from Covid 19? What about people living in abject poverty? Wouldn’t the money be better spent on them and on our NHS?

There’s absolutely no doubt that the poorest will be made to pay the most for the austerity crisis. Austerity economics has failed. It has harmed millions of people that haven’t received the support that they needed. Instead it plunged millions into poverty and absolute poverty.

Austerity has killed over 120, 000 people but Sunak and the Tory party don’t care about this. It’s all about keeping their friends happy, keeping the wealth to themselves whilst watching the working class suffer.

Sod the working class… They don’t matter…

Now tell me that you aren’t political… That politics don’t matter to you…

Like my friend Keith says that whilst we’ve got this evil government in power ordinary people will always pay.

We are robbed from the womb to the grave by over privileged thugs. Poverty is unrelieved violence that only serves the powerful.

Remember this.

Many thanks to my good friend Keith Ordinary guy for inspiring me to write this.

Yesterday’s blog was below par, most likely because I’d spent the day chasing down my meds whilst feeling rotten. I promise to do better in the future.

A massive thank you to everyone that reads and supports my blog and campaign. You really do mean the word to me.

I don’t receive any payment for anything that I do and whilst Ive been ill my finances have taken a massive blow.

Lockdown number two and more DWP cruelty.

Dear readers its Thursday again. Time passes so quickly, in a blink it appears to be another day. I remember being a kid and wanting desperately to be an adult. How stupid was I.

I’m much the same as last week, but I managed to get my meds so hopefully I’ll be feeling a lot better soon. I know that I keep saying this and I do think that I’m being a bit over optimistic when I say this. As long as my daughter is at school the more viruses she will bring home.

Today didn’t start well. Almost as soon as my daughter arrived at school her school bag broke. Wonderful, I can’t budget for things like this and some would say that we shouldn’t be wasting our money on ‘frivolous’ things like this.

The fact is that essentials aren’t exclusively food. Essentials also mean gas, electric, clothing for children and ourselves. Now that charity shops have shut down once again because of the second lockdown the option to buy clothes and such essentials at a cheaper price has been taken away.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally agree with the second lockdown, only it isn’t a lockdown is it. Schools are still open and debt collectors are still knocking on doors demanding money often with menaces.

Schools especially secondary schools aren’t providing adequate social distancing for both pupils, teachers and all school staff. There isn’t the room to do this and you wouldn’t believe how many people really think that these measures are in place.

To be honest how are they supposed to know the truth if they don’t have a child at school or have friends with children at school. The mainstream media have made it sound like it’s totally safe for our children to attend school.

It isn’t safe though and the government knows this. They don’t mind our children being used to continue with their herd immunity plans. They know exactly what they’re doing. They know that our children will pass covid onto family members but don’t expect them to care either.

The Tories have always seen the working class as an expendable commodity and I know that I keep saying this. They’ll use us until we die and even then they’ll try to chase up any so called deaths from grieving relatives.

It doesn’t end there though. They’ve fine tuned the DWP to harass both disabled and able bodied people so much that thousands have died as a result.

The DWP also has no soul, they don’t care about a persons circumstances either.

From this Monday anyone who doesn’t attend or participates in a telephone assessment for ESA or Universal Credit will have a very high risk of having their payments either reduced or cut off altogether.

What if a person is unable to talk on a telephone? The DWP don’t care. They tend to ignore a persons disability and circumstances and there’s lots of reasons what someone can’t use a telephone.

The burden will now be on disabled people to prove that they have a good reason for missing a telephone appointment. If the DWP doesn’t accept their proof then they risk having their social security payments being stopped.

This will affect thousands of disabled people including many people with mental health problems. But don’t expect the DWP to care about this either.

If anyone is affected by this please contact Debbie Abrahams either on Twitter using #DWPcutmysupport or email her at debbieabrahams.org.uk

Thank you to Debbie for continuing to push DWP related issues on behalf of us. She makes such a big difference.

As for the second lockdown.. It isn’t really a lockdown when schools are open and I urge everyone that has Facebook to join the BRUTUS page for details of campaigning for the closure of schools.

Although we do need this lockdown its important to check on each other to make sure that people are coping. Myself and others have been isolating since March but just because we’ve managed to do it doesn’t mean that everyone can cope.

Be kind, check on people, a smile can make such a big difference to someone’s day.

There’s also no need whatsoever to bulk buy toilet rolls etc. It’s complete madness.

People with disabilities need to be able to buy toilet rolls and I wish that people would stop being so bloody selfish.

Like thousands of others I wish that I could make my daughters life much better and everything that I do I do for her, for her generation so they won’t have to go through what we are going through now.

I also wish that I could do more to help more people. Having Covid 19 has really set me back. I survived it, I’m luckier than most people but the legacy of it lives on. To be honest I’m really fed up of it now.

I need to get well again but that’s a never ending battle whilst my daughter continues to go to school.

Over in America, Trumps having a strop because he can’t have everything his way and he could well loose the election.

Why is this important? Because it will affect our country in quite a few ways, trade wise and for other reasons. It will also help to stop the division and hatred that he’s stirred both in America and in the world in general.

I really hope that he looses and he can slither back to whence he came.

I’ll leave it here for now, but please note that I’m here for you and if you want to chat please contact me via messages on here or on my Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Lots of love to you all, you all mean the world to me.

Please read, share, tweet and email my blog. We really need to continue to get the truth out there.

A huge thank you to everyone that has and does support my campaign and blog.

Thank you so much.

Do we need another lockdown?

Dear readers I hope that you are all as ok as you can be and are keeping safe. Keeping safe is a struggle for so many of us at the moment and Covid 19 isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

As you all know I caught Covid 19 back in March and I’m still not fully recovered. Yes I’m one of the thousands of long covid sufferers that struggle to get by from day to day because we aren’t well enough to do much.

Here’s an example. My daughter had to return to school and she brought home a new lodger to our house. This lodger was another virus that completely flattened me. I felt dreadful, had to spend the week in bed. I’m now struggling to get my sats above 96.

So on top of the long covid, my already weakened immune system was attacked by another unwelcome visitor. Normally my immune system would have got rid of it and I certainly wouldn’t have been as ill as I was.

This is what many people don’t understand. I’ve found that so many people still think that you get better after a week or so and thats it. It’s gone only its not.

The minority of people get away with no side effects whatsoever whilst so many peoples suffering lasts for much longer.

I’m not saying that everyone gets as ill as I have been or worse, but so many people do. It’s completely devastating both personally and as a community. If only Johnson had taken the actions to protect us instead of secretly continuing with his herd immunity plans.

I’m now living in a tier three area, which to be honest wont do much to prevent the spread of this awful virus. Children still have to go to school, and others still have to attend colleges and universities.

I truly believe that schools need to close for a while, have a complete deep clean and work out how to educate our children in other ways, albeit be collecting homework from school because not everyone has access to the internet at home and online work for those that do have access.

I realise that schools aren’t just about learning, they’re about connecting with friends and having that bit of independence away from home but it just isn’t working.

Every week children at my daughters school are testing positive for covid 19 and their bubble are being sent home from school. What these bubbles don’t take into account are siblings in different classes that can still spread the virus around the school and neighbours or family members of the positive person still attending school therefore resulting in more contamination.

Basically it’s impossible to control in situations like these. We are in unprecedented times, the schools are doing their best but the government isn’t.

I’m fully in support of an at least two week lockdown. Some people are hell bent on ignoring the rules because they either believe that this virus is fake news, or that they’re immune to it because they haven’t caught it yet.

This morning I was reading the covid related comments on local newspaper Facebook posts. The reality of this situation is out there in black and white for everyone to see.

So many people just don’t believe that it exists and the hatred towards covid sufferers like myself is unprecedented. No one appears to be monitoring these comments ether so they continue to spread their vile opinions out there.

Meanwhile the government are now starting to talk about another lockdown. Instead of just talking about it they need to do it, but they need to adequately support struggling families, small businesses and self employed and employed people.

Adequate support wasn’t given last time and it needs to be so much better than their ‘efforts’ during the last lockdown.

I’m not blaming the schools though, I’m blaming the government. They were warned about this virus, how dangerous it is and given advice on how to deal with it, and how to look after the public.

Johnson didn’t and doesn’t care though. He gave crucial contracts for PPE etc to his friends and they’ve become richer as a result at the cost of other peoples suffering.

This needs to be stopped, he needs to be stopped. He just doesn’t care if we live or die.

Johnson and many in his government come from such privileged backgrounds that they genuinely believe that working class people are feckless, time wasters, and not worthy of anything. They genuinely believe that we all waste our money on alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. They also believe that we shouldn’t have any decent quality of life and we deserve every bit of misfortune thats thrown at us.

Their attitude is very Victorian but Victorian with steroids. They believe in the deserving and undeserving poor, and I’m positive that they’d send us all to do some hard labour etc as punishment.

God help you if you’re disabled then they believe that you’re not entitled to anything including life.

Disabled people have been hit harder than any other group of people by the benefit reforms etc etc. Now the government wants to take away any freedom that they have.

The pandemic is extremely hard for them and they’ve been virtually ignored by so many. It shouldn’t be like this but it is for thousands of people.

How am I coping? To be honest its bloody hard. I cant get out much because I’m not well enough yet and I’m awaiting my hospital appointments in November that are now being conducted on the telephone. At least I wont have to find the transport money for them.

Even though I’m struggling I am so grateful for my friends and readers. You all know who you are and I care about you all so much.

I’m scared of having to go to the hospital again, not only because I find it hard to accept my health decline but financially its a problem. But I totally understand that this isn’t the worst problem to have.

Please can I ask everyone to share my blog posts? The truth really needs to get out there.

For anyone that would like to donate there’s a donate button at the top and side of this blog. Every penny helps me to continue with my work, to help others and to try and put things right.

I’m trying my best to get better and to get back to normal. I’m still helping people from my home and are also helping people online and on the telephone also.

Thank you so much to everyone that supports my campaign and blog. It really does mean the world to me. I just wish that I could do more.

Lets talk about food poverty.

Dear readers its Thursday again, alas the days appear to be merging into one for me as I’m sure that they are for many of you.

Today finds me exhausted, Long Covid does this to you so I’m trying to pace myself, giving myself little goals to achieve in between rest times. Some days you feel like you’ve got more energy than the others and its hard not to overdo it.

I’ve taken advice from friends and I am trying to cope with it the best that I can.
Lets talk about food poverty.

Lets be straight, food poverty has always existed, its not a new thing and its always been terrible. It was unacceptable then and it is now. We’re the 5th richest economy and people are hungry.

Call me old fashioned, but I’m of the belief that no one should be hungry, no child should be hungry and no one should be malnourished. It’s a subject that many won’t talk about and those of us that do are sometimes ridiculed.

Since the Tory government were elected the first time back in 2010, they made it their priority to make the poor and disabled suffer. Their benefit reforms and the introduction of Universal Credit has plunged thousands of people into poverty and extreme poverty.

Basically they set off to destroy the working class, and I’m sure that you all know this.
People have been hungry for a long time.

Then Covid 19 hit us, thousands of people have died, thousands have lost their jobs, lost their homes and the government doesn’t care. Hell, the government didn’t even want to take action to prevent people from catching Covid 19 and their inaction has caused the deaths of thousands more.
Hunger and Covid 19.

As I type this we now have a country with more people living in food poverty than we have ever had in the uk in modern times.

It is predicted that UK destitution rates will double by christmas as Covid 19 job furlough schemes and income support schemes are wound down. You can imagine how angry I was to hear Johnson talk about wanting people to celebrate Christmas when thousands upon thousands of people won’t be able to do so.

It’s also predicted by the Trussell Trust that at least 670,000 people will become destitute in the last three months of the year. Basically if the government withdraws their Covid 19 support schemes these people will be unable to meet basic food, shelter and clothing needs.

If you add these figures on top of the already enormous poverty figures its totally obscene that the government can just sit back and do nothing whilst rubbing our noses in their push for Christmas.

Lets get it straight, thousands of people wont be able to celebrate christmas unless the government takes us out of the poverty that we are living.
Food poverty isn’t going to go away.

We’ve got hungry people stealing to feed themselves only to be prosecuted for doing so. Many were fined or sent to prison for being hungry…. Much like Victorian times. Lets punish the poor and ignore their desperation to find food because they’re hungry.

It should be a crime to cause the hunger and poverty of others.

Parents are going without food to enable their children to eat. They then end up being malnourished and ill.

It’s ok for people to say that these people should ‘just go to a foodbank’. Many foodbanks have now returned back to the three parcels a year system, kudos to those foodbanks that aren’t doing that.

Not everyone is aware of all of who and where their local foodbanks are. When you haven’t got access to the internet, have no credit for their phones and aren’t able to go out because their either shielding or recovering from Covid 19.

Foodbank food isn’t always the healthiest also. They’re filled with emergency items of food that require little preparation.

Fuel and food poverty is an awful reality for so many people.

This leaves the independent foodbanks within local communities to pick up the pieces, to try and find the people that are going without and to give them the help that they are needing.

Because they have more independence and don’t just open once or twice a week they can offer fruit and veg. They try their best to individually cater for everyone.

You cant imagine how wonderful it is to eat a piece of fruit or vegetable after a long time of not doing so. It’s heavenly.

It’s far from easy though. Independent foodbanks aren’t funded by anyone. They often don’t have a permanent place to operate from and are shunned by other organisations because they won’t buy into the same schemes like the larger food bank organisations do. They want to remain independent to give them the freedom to help exactly who they want to without judgement.

Believe me, there’s nothing as humiliating as asking for food from someone else. No one should not be judged for this.

The safety net has been taken away.

So what’s the solution?

There isn’t a fix all solution sadly, but I cant just sit back and see so many people suffering like this. It’s totally unprecedented and could all be prevented if the government actually cared.

When a person is hungry it affects their body as a whole, its an awful feeling and sadly its one that I’m familiar with, and that makes fighting back harder.
What can we do?

For those that can please email and visit your local MPs and communicate your worries about this.

If you can and have access to the internet, share posts and blogs like mine, share newspaper articles and if you are able start having these conversations with people.

If you aren’t shielding or recovering from Covid 19, talk to your neighbours if you can, make sure that they’re ok in a way that you know best to do.
What about foodbanks and food donations?

We need to put more pressure upon the supermarkets to freely donate their food to foodbanks instead of asking people to buy it and then donate.

Supermarkets are seeing this as an opportunity to profit from this and it needs to end.

Foodbanks depend upon these donations and if no one has any money then no one can donate.

The supermarkets can easily afford to donate this food themselves and I believe that they should.
Donate to your local independent foodbank.

They receive no help financially from anyone. Often local authorities shun them because they want to remain in independent.

They should be helped not shunned because they provide valuable help on a voluntary basis. They’ve saved life’s.

If you cant find or donate to your local independent foodbank then you can give food directly to someone thats suffering.

You can find a full list of independent food banks over at foodaidnetwork.org.uk or follow @IFAN_UK over on Twitter.
Put pressure on the government and MPs.

Universal credit, ESA, Pip are incredibly hard to survive on. People are still being sanctioned and payments barely cover the basic expenses of staying alive. They plunge people even deeper into poverty, hunger and homelessness.

We need to continue to campaign against this and fight for a fair and decent social security system that helps everyone.

The government will refuse to do this, I’m well aware of that but we can still continue to put pressure on them for higher payments and stop the government withdrawing the extra £20 a week that they’re paying to claimants.
We need to support each other.

Being a friendly face and saying hello to a stranger can really make a big difference to someone else’s day.

DWP sanctions return despite the pandemic. DWP and government cruelty at its worst.

Dear readers its Thursday yet again. I hope that you are all safe and as well as you can be.

I have some good news regarding my own personal Covid 19 recovery journey. I haven’t relapsed this week and I’m so happy about this. Every morning I wake up and hope that the pneumonia and pleurisy hasn’t returned. Baby steps though because I know from experience how unpredictable this illness can be.

I am however still suffering from fatigue and every ache and pain has me worrying. Thousands of people are feeling exactly the same as myself. The other day I strimmed some of the grass in my front garden and it wiped me out.

I’m trying to get things done but its taking me longer to do them so please be patient.

This week its been announced that as from the 24th of July its going to be mandatory for everyone to wear face masks in shops, obviously there are exceptions for people that can’t wear them.

I really do think that this will be a positive thing however is it too little too late? Personally I think that the government is trying to cover its back and are getting ready for a second covid 19 wave.

Please wear a mask if you can. They really do help. Take it from me Covid 19 is an awful virus. You can read my struggles in my previous blogs.

The DWP however haven’t wasted any time in reinstating full conditionality for job searching etc. Despite the fact that there’s fewer jobs out there than there have been for many years they want claimants to prove that they’re looking for work.

Look for work or be sanctioned. Sod the fact that there’s hardly any jobs out there, that people are shielding, recovering from Covid 19 and just can’t find work. The DWP have also employed more staff to deal with the extra claimants.

How on earth can you look for work when there are hardly any jobs out there? Thousand of people have been forced to claim Universal Credit because they lost their jobs during the pandemic. Thousands of businesses have shut their doors and many more will follow.

There isn’t enough jobs to go round.

The DWP is a heartless machine that doesn’t give a stuff about a claimants situation, their health struggles, childcare commitments etc etc. They just don’t care. My support goes to the claimants that are struggling under their cruel regime.

Many people have also forgotten that during the midst of the pandemic the two child limit and the benefit cap are both ensuring that both children and their parents are hungry, lacking in a half decent diet. This has resulted in record numbers of children being admitted into hospital for malnutrition related illnesses.

This week sees the re opening of some food banks and organisations, whilst this is good news and a great many amount of people will benefit from this, it isn’t good news that we need food banks in the first place.

The sad fact is that food bank usage has become normalised as has people being sanctioned and left with no money and the terrible deaths of thousands of people due to Covid 19.

I’ve found the UK to be very quick to normalise awful things that wouldn’t be tolerated in some other countries. This does us no favours whatsoever.

The awful truth is that people are still scared of being sanctioned, living in fear of becoming homeless as a result of this. Children are still suffering as are their parents. It’s a cruel world out there especially when you are poor.

What we do need is compassion, understanding and the opportunity to improve our life’s. A £10 restaurant voucher won’t improve anyone’s life, its worthless. But the government does realise this.

We need a society that enables us to flourish and to give us the opportunities to improve our life’s.

I want to pay tribute to everyone that has died as a result of the governments cruel, evil regime. I have them in my thoughts every single day and at my demonstrations I often read their names out and make sure that they are not forgotten.

The government want us to forget them though just like they want us to forget about everyone that have died as a result of Covid 19. They know that people would die but they regard our life’s as meaningless and surplus to requirements.

We cant let them downplay this pandemic into being nothing to worry about, just because they regard a human life as being worthless doesn’t mean that we have to do the same.

If you scroll back to previous blogs and click on the media button at the top of the blog you’ll find more of what I’ve done regarding this.

So what can we do?

We can continue to hold them accountable for each and every awful decision that they make. This can be done online via Twitter, Facebook etc, via emails and also collective action online.

I do what I can when I can.

I realised yesterday that I’m four months into my covid recovery, I’m hoping that I’m back to normal ASAP because I need to and want to do more.

My home has become both my safe space and my prison. In my mind I can do everything but then my body reminds me that I can’t.

To keep my mind busy I’ve started to paint using pastels and charcoal. I love doing this, and I wouldn’t be able to do this without the help of my friends.

I’ve read loads, all of the books that Ive been meaning to read for a long time.

I’ve started to research for a new project of mine regarding graveyards, cemeteries, death and burials mainly in the 18th and 19th centuries. Morbid I know but I find it interesting.

I am annoyed with myself because I cant provide more for my daughter. I can fully sympathise with everyone thats in the same position as me. I hear you, I walk the same path as you.

Before I end this blog post I want to thank everyone for reading and sharing my blog. I don’t get paid for anything that I do and each share means the world to me.

I want to thank my friends both online and in person for being there for me. It’s been a really scary time for me and I really don’t know what I would have done without you all.

Personally I feel so guilty because I haven’t been able to be the mum that my daughter used to know. I’d normally be taking her on walks etc, providing more for her but I cant. She’s been amazing though and I hope that I’m getting better now.

Please read share, tweet, email my blog.

Many thanks to everyone that has done this and does do this. It really does mean the world to me.

For anyone wanting to donate there’s a PayPal button at the top and side of this blog.

I don’t get paid for anything that I do and every penny helps me to continue with the blog and the campaign.

A massive thank you to everyone that does and has supported my campaign and blog. Xxxx.

Restaurant discounts given to people who can afford to eat out. Record number of people using food banks. Is this the new Let them eat cake?

Dear readers, its Thursday again and I hope that you are as well as you can be.

I know that many of my readers are struggling to get by from day to day, I can totally relate to this because I am too. This is one of the reasons why I’ve taken offence to the latest offering from Rishi Sunak.

Yesterday Sunak promised 50% dining vouchers to those that can afford to go out and eat. I don’t know you but I can’t remember the last time that I ate in a restaurant. The highlight of my week is when our food parcel arrives.

I see this as a massive insult towards us, a big two fingers up at our lack of income and lack of decent food. It also shows that once again they don’t have a clue about how WE live, how we survive and how hard we work hard to do so.

Yesterday the daily Covid 19 death rate rose to 126 deaths. Each one of these people that have sadly died were loved by someone albeit a mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle and friend.

The government would like us to forget about their deaths because they’re in a rush to get the economy to be restarted, if it costs lives then they don’t care.

I’ve also noted that more people are trying to justify these deaths, maybe they’ve not experienced Covid 19 themselves, maybe they’ve not had a family member of friend die from it. Regardless it’s awful that this justification is happening. In my eyes one death is a death too many.

I can tell you from my personal experience that Covid 19 is an evil virus and the side effects can continue for long after the Covid virus has left our bodies.

I developed bacterial pneumonia which I understand is a fairly common side effect of Covid 19. I also developed pleurisy which is very painful. I’ve also taken four lots of antibiotics to try and get rid of it.

Friends of mine who are fellow Covid sufferers have had a wide range of awful symptoms including and not exclusively Eye problems, fatigue that I have also, unexplained pains in their bodies, rashes, the list seems endless doesn’t it.

Financially we are all suffering, my finances have been obliterated as have thousands of others. I hate feeling like this, I want to get better, I want to have a bigger income, I want to be able to go on long walks with my dog. I can’t though, my friends are in the same position and it’s awful.

Yesterday I had a phone call from my social housing landlord, they wanted to come and do a gas check which is good but it took me about ten minutes to get them to understand that I’m shielding because I don’t want to become ill again, nor do I want their workers to get ill also.

So many people really do believe that its “just” a flu, even though the flu can also kill you.

How am I managing though?

I’m a single parent and luckily my daughter is 13 now and is very sensible. She’s helped me so much and has put up with my crying when I felt awful, my lack of being able to do much around the house. She’s been a great support to me.

I do realise that I am very lucky to have her, I cant imagine how hard it is to have Covid 19 and have younger children, there’s no way that I could cope with that.

Thousands of parents are having to deal with this though, thousands of people are also carers for loved ones and receive no help both physically and financially.

I have learnt that doctors and other medical people really don’t know what to do with long term Covid 19 sufferers like myself. So many people have symptoms that they’ve never seen before. This results in not getting the help and support that we need and deserve.

The government have treated the Covid 19 pandemic with no care at all. They just DONT care. They view us as surplus to requirements.

What is worrying though is the fact that the government and the DWP expect everyone to be able to find a job during this pandemic. Sadly the new Universal Credit claimants will soon realise how awful this system really is.

Whilst I can’t tell you how long this pandemic will continue for, I can say that we have to sadly find our own support. I’ve found such support in Facebook groups and friends that have had it and are long time sufferers like myself.

So far my last lot of antibiotics have worked but I’m keeping everything crossed that it stays this way. I’m still suffering from fatigue and other symptoms but I’m trying to remain positive. One day I will feel better, I will be able to go on long walks with my dog and I will be able to say that I’ve beaten this awful virus.

I have taken some kind of solace in art, even though I’m not a good artist its helping me to take my mind off my symptoms.

Keep strong everyone, remember there are more of us than there is of them and together we are stronger.

Please read and share this blog, its very important that we continue to get the truth out there.

Also a massive thank you to everyone that has and does support my campaign and blog. I don’t get paid for anything that I do, but I continue because I really don’t want the government to get away with treating people like rubbish.

For anyone who would like to donate towards my campaign and blog there’s a donate button at the top and side of this blog post. Thank you!

Are covid 19 deaths becoming the new norm?

Dear readers its Thursday yet again, I want to thank you all for reading and sharing my blog. By doing this you are helping to get the truth out there. You really are making a difference.

Last week I updated my blog saying that I was feeling much better. Sadly it didn’t last long though. I’ve relapsed again and I’ve now started another course of antibiotics. The liquid supplement that I’m taking is helping me, Ive got no doubt that I’d be much worse without it.

I’m really sorry to keep writing about this, but it’s my life at the moment. Depressing I know but its the truth and I really hope that I’m back to normal very soon.

To say that I have concerns about the lockdown being lifted again is a vast understatement. The death rates are still rising and I also suspect that the actual number of people infected has as well.

It’s easy to just go off the official figures and say that the infection rates are lowering, I get that, but I really do think that we could effectively double that amount because not everyone is tested.

The way that Covid 19 shows itself to individuals varies from person to person. Someone might have a cough, another doesn’t have a cough. Some people have a high temperature, others just have a slightly raised temperature. Some people have a bad headache, others don’t although they might have other symptoms such as being sick, having a sore throat and shortness of breath.

Because of these variations I’m sure that thousands of people don’t realise that they’re infected, this is probably because the government has been less than vague about sharing Covid 19 symptoms. As a result they’re still going out and spreading it in their local area. You can guarantee that the transmission figures are much higher than the official figures.

This weekend people will be able to go into their local pub again, whilst this is very good news for the pub licensee it isn’t for the customers. It’s going to be hard keeping to the new rules. Effectively the potential for people catching Covid 19 there is high.

However, the government doesn’t care though, what else should we expect. They’ve stopped televising the death rates in an attempt to brush Covid 19 under the carpet. Luckily people like myself haven’t forgotten and nor will we. It’s up to us to keep reminding them.

I have noticed something this week that concerns me deeply. Whilst talking to people and noticing comments online, the deaths of people due to Covid 19 related illnesses are quickly becoming normalised.

I’ll never understand how anyone can normalise death and suffering, especially large amounts of deaths like we are seeing now.

Is it a case of the its ok because it hasn’t affected me that runs rampant through society?

Are people scared so they become oblivious to it, trying to hide the fact that this is happening because its easier to deal with this way?

Is this happening because we’ve already been experiencing the deaths of thousands of people due to the benefit reforms, ESA and PIP assessments and reviews and Universal Credit related deaths?

Have we as a society become that used to death that it doesn’t matter anymore?

I’m not saying that everyone is like this though, thousands of people are angered by it just like I am, we are all pushing for change and recognition.

To be honest I find the normalising of death scary in itself because it devalues a human life. It’s easier for the government to not recognise each and every human life because it makes their job a lot easier.

Personally, like I’ve said before I do believe that the government are still pushing on with their herd immunity plans. We don’t mean anything to them, they see us as a burden upon society and expendable for their use.

So what do we do now?

We need to still continue to keep safe and follow the social distancing rules. If you need to go out, take precautions and do your own risk assessment. Don’t rely on the government or local government to do this for you. Both want commerce to begin asap.

We need to keep sharing the death stats. Whilst in reality they’re probably much higher than the official statistics its still important to share them. By doing this we are continuing to make people aware that its still happening.

We also need to share the stories of long term sufferers like myself. For some people the Covid 19 virus leaves the body after a few weeks with fatigue. This is awful in itself but for many of us it continues for months after the virus has left the body.

Personally I’m suffering from fatigue and stabbing pains in my lungs and other parts of my body. It hurts and no one can help you with it. I’ve been told that a hot water bottle might help but I don’t have one.

Other long term symptoms can be heart palpitations, brain fog, unexplained fatigue, nightmares, insomnia etc. This list isn’t exclusive though because so many people have so many other Covid 19 related health issues after contracting it.

I’ll leave this blog now with this. Be kind to each other, remember just because you might not have had a certain symptom doesn’t mean that someone else doesn’t have it.

We’ve got to remember that some people actually do believe the governments lies and deception. The blame for all of this falls heavily on the governments feet and its up to us to keep reminding them of this.

I’m sure that you agree with me that one death is a death too many.

Please keep safe.

Please read, share, tweet and email my blog. A huge thank you to everyone that already does this.

I run this blog on next to nothing, even more so now that I’m recovering from Covid 19.

DWP refuses to extend sanction ban. Jobcentres to reopen this week putting thousands at risk of contracting Covid 19.

As we know benefit sanctions were suspended three months at the beginning of the pandemic in March. This was exactly the right thing to do during a pandemic even though I believe that they should be stopped.

Sanctioning is a cruel and heartless way of punishing an individual and their families.

Today in parliament Work and Pensions secretary has refused a call to extend the expiry date beyond June 30th.

So to put it plainly sanctions are returning tomorrow on the 30th of June and Jobcentres are reopening this week. This is despite the fact that Jobcentres haven’t got a how they’re going to open whilst keeping people safe. They don’t even care about keeping their staff safe let alone the public.

Therese Coffey has said that its “important’ for claimants to commit to look for work and to start attending appointments at Jobcentres as they reopen this week.

At the start of the pandemic the government did say that the sanctions ban would be reviewed and extended if required.

Obviously the government and Terese Coffey don’t believe that still being in the middle of a pandemic is good enough reason to extend the sanction ban.

Instead of being sympathetic towards the public and the claimants that are shielding for health reasons. Coffey is quoted as saying ” Well its actually important that as the Jobcentres fully re open this week, that we do reinstate the need for having a claimant commitment”

She went on to say “It’s an essential part of the contract to help people reconsider what vacancies there may be” At a time when thousands of people have lost their jobs and equal number of business have had to shut their doors, I really wonder what these jobs are that shes talking about.

She then said “There will be some people who’ve never had to look for a job for 20-30 years” From my experience of talking to these very people that Coffey is talking about, most people have worked but finding a job in this current climate is near impossible. She then went on to say the usual blurb about giving tailored support to claimants despite not being able to guarantee being able to keep claimants and DWP staff safe.

Unemployment has risen sharply, people are still shielding, schools haven’t fully reopened nor have doctors surgeries etc. We are still in the middle of a pandemic and the DWP clearly don’t care.

Jonathon Reynolds questioned Coffey asking if she would announce an immediate extension which she refused.

Jonathon Reynolds Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary said

“It is incomprehensible that the Government is bringing back conditionality and sanctions tomorrow. At a time when unemployment has risen sharply, vacancies have dropped, people are still shielding and the schools aren’t back, threatening people reducing their financial support if they don’t look for jobs is untenable.

“What’s more, Jobcentre Plus is still lacking guidance on how premises might even open safely. With the unemployment crisis looming, it is alarming that there is no thought being given on how to offer proper support to those seeking work at this time. We need a proper plan from the government to get Britain back to work – sanctions aren’t the answer.”

Even the acting Lib Dem Leader Ed Daley is quoted as saying that it is a terrible decision.

It goes without saying that Terese Coffey and the DWP have swinging bricks instead of hearts. Thousands of claimants are still shielding and will now have to put their own life’s and their loved ones life’s at risk.

Their decision will have serious ramifications for thousands of already vulnerable people.

Covid 19 is still here and its still killing people. When myself and others say that the government and the DWP don’t care it is evident to everyone now.

The questions are

How many people are going to have to miss DWP appointments because their shielding?

How many people are going to be sanctioned as a result of the above?

How many people are going to become ill or worse as a result of this decision?

It’s these people and more that I’m worried about.

We’ve already seen the beginning of people already being sent warnings that they’ll soon have to attend DWP medical appointments. No doubt they’ll start opening their doors soon. Please keep safe folks, easier said than done I know.

If you are shielding and the DWP insist on having you attend the Jobcentre for an appointment then tell them that you’re shielding. If they ignore this then please wear a mask and keep to the social distancing rules.

After years of being disgusted at the government and DWPs behaviour towards the public this has got to be one of the most callous things that they’ve done.

Please share this article, each and every terrible decision that the government and the the DWP have made regarding disabled people and claimants have had terrible ramifications.

Please read, share and tweet my blog.

Social distancing rules loosened again. People are still dying from Covid 19. Do they want us all to become seriously ill or die?

Dear readers its Thursday once again. I hope that you are all ok and as well as you can be.

As you already know I’ve been battling Covid 19 for a while now, it hit me hard just when I thought that I was getting better. It often does this because thats when the secondary illnesses set in.

Once you’ve got over this then the post viral fatigue sets in leaving you incapable of doing much except sleep. The simplest of tasks renders you unable to do anything except sleep.

This is exactly what I’ve been like, sleeping, trying to get things done in the house whilst still getting pains in my chest on and off. The doctor that I saw told me that my lungs are probably scarred and I need to continue to do breathing exercises.

All this said, I haven’t relapsed again and hopefully I wont. I’m trying to do household chores because they need doing and sitting down all the time isn’t good for me either.

I am very wary of pushing myself too much though, easier said than done when your a single parent, but I am very aware that I’ve been very lucky and it could have been much worse.

My life has changed though, I’m now reliant upon food parcels to keep us going. It upsets me to have to say this but its reality and I’m very grateful for the help. It is pretty shit though when you cant go shopping for food etc like you used to.

What I have learnt from this is that life is very fragile and it can be taken away so easily and without warning. That in itself is a very scary thought, especially for someone like me who thought that I was invincible at times. I now know that I’m not and I’m really grateful to be here albeit in much reduced circumstances.

Meanwhile the government believes that its ok to loosen the social distancing rules again, to change the two meter rule and to open up pubs again.

The re opening of the pubs will be good for business but it wont be good for health. I doubt that many people will be thinking that whilst they’re ordering their first pint for a long while that they’ll also be ordering a side order of Covid 19.

To be honest I’m disgusted that the government have seen fit to do this. The mortality rates are rising once again and people are still dying.

I do have a theory about this though, I was discussing this with a friend this morning. The government have been continuing with their herd immunity plans in all but name. They worship at the gods of money and commerce and they want their friends to be profiting from the poor as soon as possible, even when they know that its not safe.

Getting your head around the fact that the government doesn’t care if we become ill or die can be very hard for some because we used to have governments that cared for our well being. Sadly they’re long gone now and wont be returning for a while.

I’m really trying to be positive but there isn’t a lot to be positive about at the moment and once again I urge you to keep safe and still practice social distancing.

The government are now going to pass the blame for the second wave of Covid 19 illnesses and deaths onto the NHS, local governments and ourselves as individuals. This is very worrying because they are to blame for the worsening of this crisis. As individuals we need to keep holding them responsible. We aren’t to blame for this they are and they know it.

On another note it was really good to see that the four women that took the government to court regarding the way that Universal Credit does not recognise that two paydays fell within their assessment periods.

The DWP decided wrongly that they had doubled their salaries in the first month and reduced their benefits by a large amount.

Universal credit does not recognise the fact that some months are longer than others, therefore of course people will get more than one wage every now and then. Sadly the DWP don’t recognise this because they want to reduce a claimants payments as much as possible. Decent common sense doesn’t even enter the equation.

Quite rightly the four incredibly brave women took the DWP to court and it was then that the DWP then waged a two year battle against them, ending in the court of appeal where the DWP lost again.

The DWP like to see people suffer, from my experience they’re quite sadistic in taking revenge upon anyone that decides to complain and appeal against anything.

It would be unwise to think that the government will change anything because of this ruling though, they won’t even commit to giving claimants backdated money on the basis of the court judgement.

The DWP stated that there were “only” 1,500 people affected by this despite the real figures being around 85,000. Expect the judgement to be filed in the same drawer as the ECHR reports are filed.

So what do we do now?

We need to continue to campaign against the evil machine which is Universal Credit.

I will be back outside Ashton under lyne Jobcentre as soon as it re opens.

I will also be continuing to campaign against the governments disgusting handling of the Covid 19 pandemic. I will also continue to share the daily death rates because the government wants us to forget all about it.

Please spare a thought for the disabled man that starved to death because he wasn’t able to access food essentials. 38% of disabled or vulnerable people were unable to get online shopping orders and a further 26% were scared of catching Covid 19 in supermarkets.

I’m afraid to say that this probably wasn’t the only death and it will happen again when the government ends its shielding practice.

Please keep safe, each and every one of you are in my thoughts.

I wish that I could do more but my health has been bad and I’m on a very limited income.

Please read, share tweet and email my blog. We need to continue to get the truth out there.

For anyone that would like to donate to keep my blog and campaign going there is a donation button at the top and side of this blog.

A huge thank you to everyone that has and doe support the blog and campaign.
