Why do sick notes go missing?Aggressive G4S security amongst other issues.

Whilst I was handing leaflets out i was asked to go and speak to a man who was stood round the corner. This happens quite a lot because they feel that they can’t be seen talking to us.Why? The fear of sanction and discrimination by DWP staff members. The threat of a sanction is enough for anyone to comply with their wishes. So i went over and spoke to this man.
He was in a very agitated state, he was very articulate but also very angry. He told me that he had worked all of hi life and had had an accident requiring several painful operations on his knee.He had received a letter from the eSa department to remind him to send his sick note in, but they didn’t include an envelope. So thats what he was there for. He asked to speak to an advisor but was stopped by a G4S security guard. given an envelope and was told to leave the building. he was shocked, all he wanted to do was to speak to a front desk advisor.
He came outside with the envelope and realised that it was the wrong envelope. The G4S security guard had given him the wrong envelope.. so he questioned this and was welcomed with a tough thats all your getting response. We helped him but this left me with these questions;
G4S security guards are not trained benefit advisors and should not be handling any personal information or handing out advice. The are not fully trained security guards therefore have no right to do so. Why are they being allowed to do this?
How many sick notes go missing in this way? These payments are a lifeline for ESA claimants and it shouldn’t be happening.
Is this a tactic deployed by the DWP deliberately or is it simply the DWP allowing unqualified G4S guards dish out advice ensuring that mistakes are made and wrong advice given?
Answers on a postcard please, although I will be enquiring bout this and monitoring this situation.

A young girl with her mother stopped us. She was shaking with fear and close to having a panic attack. She is on ESA for severe anxiety and the Jobcentre have felt that it is right to force her into the Jobcentre for an interview. I looked at the letter and she did need to attend, however she was far too ill to go in on her own so we advised her mum to go in with her. She is clearly not ready for work. No one should have to feel this scared of a building and the people inside. Its disgusting and we need to stop this. The government have created two monsters. The DWP and Jobcentre plus. Both equally evil.
I hope that she managed to recover from this ordeal.

This week G4S decided to be rather aggressive and have it seems taken ten paces back in their attitude. A young woman rushed out of the building wanting to speak to us. She said that she was sat waiting for her appointment and a G4S security guard was shouting “Im going to snap the strings on that guitar if they don’t shut up” she said that he was very menacing in manner and she was scared of him. She said that she would make a complaint lets hope that she does. Threats of violence should always be taken seriously. Our crime was to be playing songs of peace on a guitar played by a woman who is no threat at all. Shocking.

  1. I wish I could get across to somebody how important the basic income is – should be – in the counter-attack by the poor in the war against them. A few simple steps:
Means testing is the root problem. The government (wrongly) claims that it creates a Scroungers’ Charter.
It DOES create a work disincentive, so if people were rational, it would be a Scroungers’ charter
Because nobody twigs all this, the government is getting away with cutting benefits and hounding claimants.
If benefits are cut and claimant are hounded, the escape route of disability has to be sealed off.
hence all the nastiness reported in this blog post. Those not affected think cutting benefits is justified by austerity, and so the nastiness is unavoidable.
The Universal Credit was supposed to justify cutting benefits. It wouldn’t and hasn’t happened anyway – even the few supposed to be on it often don’t get it when they need it.
The report recommending the UC (Dynamic Benefits: towards Welfare that works – Centre for Social Justice, Publications, Sept 2009), actually provides a damning case for the Basic Income

  2. wildthing666 ……….It may be that simple for you or even this blogger but its not for the claimants asking for help.as this blogger has already explained people are in fear of being sanctioned and having no money to live on. if this happened to you maybe you will have people/family/friends to rely on but thousands don’t /think of the claimant before you say things like that. would be great if it WAS that simple but it isn’t

  3. If anybody asked me to go round the corner to speak to them they would be told to say it where I was stood or they can FECK ORF. Their power lies in getting you to go round the corner to a place out of sight refuse and gain the upper hand, it’s that simple.

  4. Shared this on Google +, the use of G4S in light of their known inefficiencies, aggressive behaviour, lack of oversight and corporate criminality is symptomatic of the “can’t care, won’t care” attitude of this tory government

    1. Doesn’t Surprise me about G4S aggressive behaviour , I was on my way out of an office walking towards my car, when a G4S guard came running out of his office / shed shouting i cannot park outside the offices, i told him you must be mistaken as my car is parked at the public carpark 5 mins away.
His Posture towards me was quite aggressive and intimidating, I asked him for his identification as i wanted to report his actions , first of all he ignored me then started walking away , then when i asked him again he told me to F##k off .. i followed him to his Shed / office he again told me to F##k off several more times, then he said you white people think you are better than us and implied i was racist.
I was totally shocked as my wife is asian and i have 2 children and several Colored friends.
What kind of training and background checks do they give these people, one has to laugh when you read on their web site..

  5. G4s do seem to overreact! The guitar was only brought out for the last 15 mins of the demo.It was a semi-acoustic (ie not loud) and not plugged in! They were inside the building with 2 sets of doors closed, the guitar was outside! I think they are all so used to picking at the slightest thing in there in order to sanction people or have them removed from the building, that they have forgotten how to behave in the real world. I find them very unprofessional, sending customers out with playground threats. Are they supposed to be Security? I’m puzzled by what their role actually is! Any security issues, they just seem to call the police willy-nilly to do that job. What do they do there? If they are giving out forms and taking national insurance numbers then surely they are admin staff? Why then the uniform & the grimace?

      1. A lot of them struggle to be employed elsewhere. Also guilty of many human rights abuses. Terrible company. Take comfort in the fact that you are a much kinder, more thoughtful person. This person is probably still chasing folk around car parks!
